El  pez espada , conocido  también  como  pez emperador  y cuyo nombre científico es  Xiphias gladius , son especies de  peces percomorfos  (incluyen  el 40% de todos los peces que existen y son la mayor orden de los peces vertebrados), y pertenecen a la  familia de los Xiphiidae .
